About Bike Reliability

Bike Reliability turns the government's raw MOT record into something a used-bike buyer can actually use: honest, first-time pass rates and failure data for every motorcycle tested in Great Britain, 18,679,309 tests across 2005–2025.

Why it exists

Buying a used bike, everyone asks the same questions: "is this model reliable?", "what goes wrong on it?", "which years should I avoid?" And the honest answer has always been forum folklore. Yet the DVSA publishes the actual outcome of every MOT test, free. Nobody had turned that into a proper per-model resource for motorcycles. So we did.

Where the data comes from

Every number is computed from the DVSA anonymised MOT tests and results, the official record, test classes 1 and 2 (motorcycles). Nothing is scraped, sampled or estimated. If you recompute it from the same public files, you should get our figures. Full methodology here.

Independent

No manufacturer, dealer or insurer owns any part of this site or influences a single figure. Some links (history checks, insurance) are affiliate links that help fund the work. They're always marked, and they never change the data or the rankings.
